Heroes + Villains is a series focusing on the acceptance of individuality and identity. The entire concept is built on adults playing like children with everyday objects, by virtue of which they transform into the modern myths of comic and cartoon. Each image creates a new world for the imagination to explore, wherein imperfections are a requirements, rather than exceptions to the rule.
What originally started out as a personal project has traveled globally in both print and digital form, along with 4 solo gallery showings. Its intention and stories continually change and grow with each image and my ongoing experience of life. It's both a wonderland of episodic nonsense and my own personal brand developed through more than 110 characters.
This series was initially envisioned to be a 4-part exhibition. That has since changed as the shared world expands, but each showing still holds true to its own theme. Every one of the #ed shows represents a different stage of life, with the focus on building acceptance of who you are. To emphasize the importance of the inherent message, a percentage of every sale went to raise money for local Atlanta charities. To date, Heroes + Villains has raised over $30,000 for charities.
A collection of artwork designed in an 8x10 300+ page Coffee Table Book for everyone who ever imaged growing up to be unique and accepted.
